TOLITO AGUIRRE AND GONZA ALFONSO WIN A1 SEVILLE MASTER
After missing, for the first time this season, a final in the A1 Padel circuit in Madrid, Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso restored their dominance in Seville, claiming their eighth title in eleven tournaments.
In a final where the two best pairs of the circuit faced off (Tolito Aguirre / Gonza Alfonso and Maxi Arce / Franco Dal Bianco), spectators witnessed one of the best matches of the year, with constant uncertainty in the scoreline throughout the three sets.
In the end, as has become their signature, the “magicians” proved to be more efficient, securing victory by 6-3, 1-6, and 6-4.
SURPRISES
This Seville Master was marked by the emergence of new pairs that, in their first appearance, achieved quite positive results. Pablo Barrera / Juampi Andrada, Santi Rolla / Facu Lopez, Maximo Maldonado / Luciano Puppo, and Dani Luna / Adrian Marques were the four pairs that surprised everyone by reaching the quarterfinals of this Master.
DISAPPOINTMENTS
Fede Chiostri and Maxi Sanchez were undoubtedly the big disappointments of the Seville event. The Argentine pair, who were coming off two consecutive semifinals (Asturias and Madrid), couldn’t get past the round of 16, falling to Maximo Maldonado and Luciano Puppo.
PORTUGUESE PLAYERS QUIET IN SEVILLE
As usual, Vasco Pascoal and Pedro Perry were present in this third Master of the year in the A1 Padel circuit, both debuting with new partners. Pascoal teamed up with Argentine Francisco Maier, and Pedro Perry partnered with Spaniard Rodrigo Lopez.
Despite these changes, the Portuguese players couldn’t advance beyond the round of 32, falling short of expectations.
This week, the A1 circuit moves to Barcelona, where the Catalonia Open will be held until next Sunday.
