The National Team Misses Bronze at the European Championship
The National Team lost this morning against the French team by 1-2, as had happened in the group stage, missing out on the podium at the European Padel Championship.
In the first match, Patrícia Ribeiro and Sofia Araújo had no difficulties and beat Fiona Ligi and Camille Sireix by a double 6-2.
In the second match, Maggie Fernandes and Cláudia Gaspar lost 5-7 and 0-6 against the pair of Alix Collombon and Jessica Ginier. Despite a balanced first set, the national duo couldn't find their footing in the second set, resulting in a highly unbalanced score.
In the decisive final match of the morning, Ana Catarina Nogueira and Kátia Rodrigues, despite significant balance, couldn't find solutions to defeat Léa Godallier and Lucile Pothier, losing 5-7 and 4-6.
This fourth place achieved by our women's team in this European Championship falls short of the initial expectations of all those who follow national padel.
The National Men's Team Wins Bronze
Our men's team defeated the French team this afternoon, securing third place at the European Padel Championship.
The first match was decided only in the tie-break of the third set, with Miguel Deus and Nuno Deus defeating Dylan Guichard and Thomas Leygue in a match where the desire and will to win were crucial for the national duo's success.
In the second match, Peu Araújo and António Luque faced Maxime Joris and Thomas Vanbauce in a match where it was clear from the start that the victory would not escape our team, such was the quality of play presented by the Portuguese.
With the victory guaranteed, the third match, where Afonso Fazendeiro and Pedro Perry were to participate, was not played, as it was time to celebrate.
