WOMEN'S TEAM SECURES SPOT IN EUROPEAN QUARTERFINALS

The Portuguese women's national team secured their place in the quarterfinals of the European Padel Championship on Wednesday by defeating Poland 3-0. Ana Catarina Nogueira and Margarida Fernandes dominated the first match against Zuzanna Jeschke and Patrycja Kozluk, winning with a score of 6-1 and 6-0, giving Portugal the lead. In the second match, Sofia Araújo and Constança Gorito defeated Zofia Piorkowska and Aleksandra Rosolska with a double 6-3.

In the final match, Kátia Rodrigues and Catarina Vilela triumphed over Izabela Kunat and Joanna Nowakowska 6-4 and 6-2.

In the quarterfinals, Portugal will face Sweden, one of the top-seeded teams in this European Championship.

MEN'S TEAM JOINS WOMEN'S TEAM IN EUROPEAN QUARTERFINALS

The Portuguese men's national team finished the group stage of the European Championship this afternoon with another victory, this time against the weak Danish team. With this win, Portugal ends the first phase of the European Championship with three victories in three matches, all with the same result of 3-0. In this afternoon's match, national coach Gervásio Del Bono made some changes to the pairs presented in the first two games. Thus, today was the debut of Vasco Pascoal and Diogo Jesus in the European Championship. In the first match, Peu Araújo paired with Vasco Pascoal, and despite some balance in the initial set, they dominated the second, defeating Esben Hess and Nils Skajaa 7-5 and 6-1.

Next, Diogo Jesus and António Luque played their match. The national duo controlled the game without any surprises, beating Emil Domela and Marc Andreas Moller 6-4 and 6-2.

To close the last round of the group stage, Miguel Deus and Afonso Fazendeiro easily defeated Oscar Sebber and Mads Laudrup 6-1 and 6-3.

Tomorrow, in the quarterfinals, Portugal will compete with Great Britain for a spot in the European Championship semifinals.
