MAGICAL “TOLITO” AGUIRRE AND GONZA ALFONSO WIN IN ASTURIAS

Seventh title of the season for the duo in A1 Padel

Leonel “Tolito” Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso secured their seventh title of the A1 Padel season after defeating Rama Pereyra and Juan Ignacio De Pascual 6/3, 7/5 in the final of the Asturias Open. The world’s No. 1 A1 Padel duo reached their ninth final of 2024 in Avilés.

From the start of the season, Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso have shown truly remarkable numbers. Out of 45 matches, they have won 43 and lost only 2, winning 87 sets and dropping just 12.

In the Asturias final, Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso left no chance for Rama Pereyra and Juan Ignacio De Pascual, the second seeds in the tournament due to the absence of Maxi Arce and Franco Dal Bianco.

While the Asturias tournament saw the debut of several new pairs, this shuffle of duos hasn't yet increased competitiveness in the circuit. The dominance of the No. 1 duo remains intimidating, and it seems no one can stop Tolito and Gonza as they chase the record of Arce and Dal Bianco, who claimed 10 titles in the 2023 season.

The A1 Padel circuit will take a two-week break, returning on September 23rd with the A1 Madrid Open.
