Running out of adjectives to describe the performances of Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso in the A1 Padel circuit. The “magicians” have won 5 tournaments out of a possible six and boast 29 victories in 30 matches played… An absolute dominance.
The final of the A1 Galicia Open, held at the Sports Pavilion in Pontevedra, was more than just a showdown between the circuit's top two pairs – Franco Dal Bianco / Maxi Arce and Tolito Aguirre / Gonza Alfonso. It carried the added interest of determining the future number 1 duo in the circuit, as the title winners would gain that status.
Without much surprise, Tolito and Gonza claimed yet another trophy, securing the victory with a double 6-4, despite a scare at the beginning of the match, starting off down 0-4. However, winning six consecutive games changed the course of the game, propelling them unstoppable towards victory.
Portuguese Fall in the First Round
As usual in A1 Padel tournaments, Pedro Perry and Vasco Pascoal were present at this A1 Galicia Open. With bad luck striking the Portuguese during the draw, both were defeated in the inaugural round.
Pedro Perry and Relis Ferreyra lost 5-7 and 6-7 against Gonzalo Rubio and Mario Del Castillo, a duo that regularly competes in Premier Padel circuit tournaments. Vasco Pascoal and Victor Saenz suffered a heavy defeat, 6-0 and 6-1, against Titol Allemandi and Rama Pereyra.
The A1 Padel circuit will take a four-week break, returning on July 29th in La Rioja, Argentina, marking the first time this circuit visits the pampas country in 2024.
